The confusion regarding the internal reservation appears to persist, as a meeting has been convened for September 16 to discuss the problems with the new roster announced by the State government following notification of the internal reservation among the Scheduled Castes.

The meeting had been convened, involving the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), the Social Welfare Department, and representatives of the State government, as well as the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Employees Association, which had complained to the government.

The association had stated that the new roster favoured the general category, and the roster points for the Scheduled Tribes and Holeyas had been adjusted to favour general category employees.

“While the first roster issued on September 3 had many mistakes, another roster was issued with vertical and horizontal reservation on September 6, which too has a problem and is against the order issued in 1977”D. ChandrashekaraiahPresident, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Employees Association

“While the first roster issued on September 3 had many mistakes, another roster was issued with vertical and horizontal reservation on September 6, which too has a problem and is against the order issued in 1977,” said association president D. Chandrashekaraiah.

The new roster had been notified after the internal reservation of 6% each to Dalit Left and Dalit Right, and 5% to Korama, Koracha, Lambani and Bhovi, along with microscopic communities, was notified by the government.

The Principal Secretary to the Social Welfare Department, P. Manivannan, has also written to the DPAR Secretary K.G. Jagadish, drawing his attention to the deviation in the roster rules that were notified in December 2022.

He also brought the association’s arguments to the notice of DPAR, which had issued the new roster.

“Review the roster as per rules. Take swift action in revising the order with the coordination of the Social Welfare department,” Mr. Manivannan said in his letter.
