Following the induction of 23 more Ministers into Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s Cabinet on Thursday (May 21, 2026), the strength of the Ministry rose to 33. While the portfolios of some existing Ministers have been revised, the newly inducted Ministers have been assigned their respective departments.

Mr. Vijay retained his existing departments and was additionally allotted Special Initiatives, Poverty Alleviation and Rural Indebtedness. These departments were earlier handled by Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources N. Anand.

Meet the new Ministers in Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s expanded Cabinet

Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar retained most of his previously assigned portfolios. The Legislative Assembly portfolio, however, has now been given to K.A. Sengottaiyan, who was earlier Finance Minister and has now been redesignated as Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management. The Finance portfolio was reassigned to newly inducted Minister N. Marie Wilson.

Among the newly sworn-in Ministers, A. Srinath was appointed Minister for Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, S. Kamali as Minister for Animal Husbandry, C. Vijayalakshmi as Minister for Milk and Dairy Development, and R.V. Ranjithkumar as Minister for Forests.

Vinoth has been appointed Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, V.K. Rajeev as Minister for Environment and Climate Change, B. Rajkumar as Minister for Housing and Urban Development, V. Gandhiraj as Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, K. Jegadeeshwari as Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, and Congress Legislature Party leader S. Rajesh Kumar as Minister for Tourism.

M. Vijay Balaji has been appointed Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, D. Logesh Tamilselvan as Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, and A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban as Minister for Transport. S. Ramesh has been appointed Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, P. Viswanathan (Congress) as Minister for Higher Education, and R. Kumar as Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services.

K. Thennarasu has been designated Minister for Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, V. Sampath Kumar as Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, J. Mohamed Farvas as Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, D. Sarathkumar as Minister for Human Resources Management, and K. Vignesh as Minister for Prohibition and Excise.
