In a chilling act of brutality, a 26-year-old woman was murdered by her husband near Balurgi village in Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district on Thursday.
The suspect is said to have slit the victim’s throat with a sharp weapon before driving his car over the body.
The victim has been identified as Saheli, a resident of Baramati, Maharashtra.
According to preliminary reports, Saheli and her husband, Akshay, were travelling by car from Baramati to a famous pilgrimage site, Deval Ganagapur in Afzalpur taluk.
The horrific incident occurred on the outskirts of Balurgi village. Akshay is said to have stopped the vehicle on the main road, attacked Saheli with a sharp object and then, ran his car over the body before fleeing.
Meanwhile, several commuters are said to have watched and filmed the gruesome scene on their mobile phones.
A case has been registered.
The police are investigating the motive for the murder. They have launched a manhunt for the accused.
