A 47-year-old factory owner was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his 100 grams gold chain by a former employee in the Kumbalagodu Police Station limits on Thursday.

According to the complaint, the victim, Amar Narayana Swamy, who runs a Ganesh idol-manufacturing unit in Kanchanapura, was approached on November 13 by a 23-year-old accused, identified as Jayanth. The accused had briefly worked at Mr. Swamy’s factory in June 2025. Jayanth reportedly told the complainant that a BDA site was available for sale and offered to show it to him.

The two travelled in the complainant’s car to the Sulikere BDA Layout, where Jayanth showed him two vacant plots. While they were returning, the accused, who was seated in the back seat, allegedly lunged forward and tried to snatch the gold chain worn by the complainant. When the victim resisted, Jayanth allegedly attacked him with a knife, injuring his neck, face, shoulder, forehead, and head.

“Bleeding, the complainant got out of the vehicle and attempted to escape by climbing onto the back of a passing mini-lorry. The accused allegedly chased him, pulled him down, stabbed him again in the back, snatched the gold chain, and fled on a motorcycle,” said the police.

The Kumbalagodu Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
