A 33-year-old man was arrested after the police seized 10 kg of ganja from his bag onboard a government bus in Christianpet village on Sunday.

The police said the arrested person was identified as S. Ganesh Kumar, a native of Anupparpalayam in Tiruppur district. He was travelling in a government bus that was proceeding to Vellore from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

The bus halted at a check post near Katpadi for a vehicle check.Police personnel checked the luggage of commuters, and they found contraband in Ganesh Kumar’s bag.

Initial inquiry revealed that Ganesh Kumar procured ganja from agents in Chittoor to sell it among industrial workers in cities such as Coimbatore, Tirupatur, Erode, and Salem. A case was registered by Katpadi Police. He was lodged at Central Prison in Vellore.
