Man ends life in Shankarpally residence; family alleges election-related harassment

A 28-year-old man ended his life at his residence in Gopularam village of Shankarpally mandal in Rangareddy district on Wednesday (December 24, 2025) allegedly after being threatened for not voting for a candidate during the recent Panchayat elections in Rangareddy district

The deceased was identified as Kavali Anil, who was employed in a private firm and stayed with his family in Shankarpally residence.

According to a complaint lodged by his family members, Anil was allegedly threatened by two persons, identified as Thonda Ravi and Cheera Sai Kumar, for not voting for not voting for Cheera Sai Kumar, who was the candidate in the elections. The family alleged that the harassment caused severe mental distress, leading him to take the extreme step.

Police shifted the body to the Chevella Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
