Various organisations have demanded that Minister Satish Jarkiholi be appointed as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, as it will help the party by strengthening the AHINDA movement.
Members of the AHINDA district units in Vijayapura and Belagavi have demanded that the Minister who is also the KPCC working president be allowed to hold two posts, a Cabinet berth and the other KPCC president, just as Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar did.
AHINDA leaders Rajshekar Talwar and Basavaraj Katral have urged the Congress to consider this demand to ensure that the party succeeds in getting the support of all deprived communities in the future.
“Satish Jarkiholi will continue to organise AHINDA effectively, under the guidance of the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He will ensure that it will grow not only into a political organisation but also as a social organisation aimed at allround welfare and prosperity,” they said.
Raju Shiragave, Hafiz Mubarak Dongre and others have signed a memorandum with the demand.
Mahesh Shigihalli of the Karnataka ST Valmiki Youth Wing has also demanded the KPCC chief post for Satish Jarkiholi.
Meanwhile, leaders of various Muslims Jamaats of Kittur Karnataka division demanded that Satish Jarkiholi be appointed the KPCC president and MLA Asif (Raju) Sait be made a Minister.
Satish Jarkiholi is a popular AHINDA leader who has worked for the victory of party candidates in various places, including Shiggaon and Bagalkot.
He has supporters in all taluks. His hands should be strengthened by making him the KPCC president, community leader and youth Congress leader Saqib Peerzade said.
“Mr. Sait is the only Muslim legislator from Belagavi district. He should enter the Cabinet. As many as five Muslim legislators were made members of the erstwhile S.M. Krishna Cabinet. The D.K. Shivakumar government should also follow the same model. The Congress should stop looking at the minority community only as a vote-bank,” Muslim leaders said.
“Our earlier demand of providing a Cabinet berth to Firoz Sait was ignored. Now, at least, his younger brother Asif Sait should be made a Minister,” they said.
“These two demands should be fulfilled soon,” Samiullah Mallapur, Waheed Inamdar, Saddam Dange and others said in a release.
They said that they will take a delegation to Bengaluru to press for this demand.
