Andhra Pradesh State Coir Association executive member and Vizinaagaram District Coir Association president Mongam Srinivasa Rao said that Mahila Coir Yojana scheme is a boon for rural women, as it fosters entrepreneurship and creates livelihood opportunities through the byproducts of coconuts.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao participated in the Republic Day celebrations held in New Delhi on Monday. In a press release issued on Tuesday, he said that it was a great honour for the family which promoted the coir industry in Chintapalli of Pusapatirega mandal of Vizianagaram district.

He added that women entrepreneurs can access up to ₹25 lakh financial assistance under the Mahila Coir Yojana scheme. Mr. Ramalakshmi said that the coir fibre can be converted into yarn on motorised raats which would enable large-scale employment in villages. He added that the scheme was helping many rural artisans to earn livelihood locally in Chintapalli village of Vizianagaram district.
