Maharashtra’s second phase civic body poll results will be out today (December 21, 2025) as the counting begins.

Voting for the posts of president and members in 23 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Maharashtra, as well as for 143 vacant member posts in these local bodies ended at 5:30 p.m. on December 20.

Local bodies, including Baramati, Ambernath, are the more prominent ones going to the polls. Polling began at 7.30 am on Saturday (December 20), and by afternoon, the State Election Commission (SEC) reported a 47.04% turnout. Six wards in Sinnar, Ozar and Chandwad recorded 49.47% voting. The final turnout figure is expected today.

Several instances of bogus voters in Ambernath, where about 200 women were allegedly brought in to cast their votes, fake Aadhar card used to impersonate a voter, were among the many snags encountered on the polling day.

The Special Investigation Team’s report on Ambernath is expected today. Investigations are underway probing other such instances in Nanded and Panvel.
