Annamayya district has secured a major drinking water infrastructure project with the approval of Phase-II of the water grid project for Madanapalle Assembly constituency at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, District Collector Nishant Kumar said that the project would provide a permanent solution to the region’s chronic drinking water problem. “The project will ensure safe and uninterrupted drinking water supply to Madanapalle town and the rural mandals of Madanapalle, Nimmanapalle and Ramasamudram,” he said.

Meanwhile, the work under Phase-I, which involves the laying of a pipeline from the Gandikota reservoir to Mavillavaripalle in Gurramkonda mandal, is already in progress. A water treatment plant would be set up at Mavillavaripalle to supply potable water to Madanapalle. Tenders for Phase-II will be shortly invited, with an action plan to complete the project within 18 months, the Collector said.
