In a ghastly road accident, three women farm workers from Maharashtra were killed and 13 others injured, three of them seriously, when a coal-laden lorry rammed into a stationary pickup truck at Indaram crossroads in Mancherial district’s Jaipur mandal in the early hours of Monday (December 22, 2025).

According to sources, around 22 migrant farm workers were travelling in the pickup truck when the accident took place. They were on their way to Sulthanabad in Peddapalli district to work in paddy fields.

Sources added that the over speeding lorry crashed into the parked pickup truck on the highway amid thick fog at around 4.30 a.m.

The collision left a woman farm worker dead on the spot. Two others died while being shifted to hospital, sources added. Three more workers suffered grievous injuries in the accident. They were admitted to a hospital in Mancherial.

The deceased were identified as 60-uear-old Neelubai, 45-year-old Imlibai, and 45-year-old Meena, all native of Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district. The police registered a case against the lorry driver and took up a detailed investigation.
