Members of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) staged 48-hour hunger strike here on Tuesday (December 02, 2025) demanding sufficient rest and safety for the passengers.

AILRSA divisional president M. Venkatesham and secretary R.V. Ramu said that the hunger fast was observed in response to the nation-wide call given by the associations demanding adequate rest for the loco running staff.

Association divisional vice-president B.C.S. Rao urged the Ministry of Railways to stop back to back continuous duties for the loco pilots, which was affecting their health. “As the railway management is not giving sufficient periodic and outstation rest for loco running staff, there is no safety for the passengers,” the association leaders said.
