The organisers of ‘Kondavaru Yaru-Who Killed Women in Dharmasthala?’ campaign held a ‘light a lamp for justice’ movement on Wednesday (October 22, 2025) demanding justice for victims of the alleged Dharmasthala mass burials.

In Bengaluru, around 40 people gathered near the Janardhana hotel in Gandhi Nagar, demanding a fair investigation. Although the vigil was initially planned near Majestic, the campaign was moved to another spot as police refused to issue permission for the same.

The campaign, started in August by women’s rights organisations and activists, has been conducting awareness programs, protests, press conferences, and activities to shape it into a public movement

According to the organisers, apart from Bengaluru, the campaign was held in several parts of the state, including Bengaluru Rural (Anekal and Devanahalli), Kolar, Bellary, Bidar, Mysuru, B.R. Hills, Davangere, Nanjangud, Chamrajnagar and Vijayanagar among others.

The organisers will also start a letter-writing campaign in November to further spread awareness on the demands of the campaign, which include empowering the SIT to conduct and complete a full and fair investigation. The month-long awareness campaign will conclude with a women’s convention on December 10, which is World Human Rights Day.

The campaign, started in August by women’s rights organisations and activists, has been conducting awareness programs, protests, press conferences, and activities to shape it into a public movement.
