Student organisations owing allegiance to Left parties will organise a march to the Lok Bhavan here on October 23, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, whom they accuse of subverting the electoral process through manipulation of votes.

At a joint press conference held here on Saturday (October 17, 2026), leaders of major student organisations announced that the march would be inaugurated by Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan. Leaders of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) will also participate in the protest, with hundreds of students expected to join the demonstration.

Students’ Federation of India (SFI) State secretary P.S. Sanjeev said Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to shield Mr. Kumar. “The protests will continue until Mr. Kumar is removed,” he said. The protest will bring together all Left-wing student organisations, with the joint effort aiming to strengthen unity among the organisations both in the State and across the country, he added.

All India Students’ Federation (AISF) State vice-president Abdullakutty, All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) State secretary Aparna, and AISF district president S. Abhijith were also present.
