CPI South Chennai district secretary S.K. Siva on Monday said Mathur Sathya had been removed from the party’s primary membership, the All India Youth Federation, and the Indian Society for Cultural Co-operation and Friendship after allegations of sexual harassment were made and a police complaint was filed against him.

An official press statement said the South Chennai district committee discussed the allegations made by a “third person” at the meeting on March 14 and a police complaint addressed to Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner was filed seeking action against Mathur Sathya seeking justice in support of the female victims. “Nobody from CPI, AIYF and ISCUF should have any relationship with Mathur Sathya,” Mr. Siva said.

In a social media post, Mathur Sathya said, “I haven’t been given an audience to present my side yet. All my life, I have done everything with anyone I encountered only after explicit consent.”
