Latur municipal authorities explore Ambedkar memorial on study tour

Corporators from the Latur Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra, visited Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam and Ambedkar Kala Vedika in Vijayawada on Tuesday as part of a study tour.

The delegation, led by Mayor Jayashree Bhalchandra Sonkamble, inspected the facilities, the beautification work and the digital exhibitions of Dr. Ambedkar’s life at the memorial park. They also sought details about the advanced technology used in constructing the statue.

The delegation later visited Ambedkar Kala Vedika, where they examined the modern facilities on the ground and first floors, art galleries, and the architectural features of the complex.

Later, NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha gave a comprehensive presentation on the design, technical aspects, and the cultural and educational significance of Ambedkar Smriti Vanam and Ambedkar Kala Vedika.

Following the presentation, Ms. Jayashree Bhalchandra Sonkamble expressed her gratitude to the district officials and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation for the warm welcome extended to her team. She invited Mr. Lakshmisha to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Latur.

Mr. Lakshmisha later presented the Mayor and the delegation with a replica of Dr. Ambedkar statue. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation in-charge Commissioner A. Ravindra Rao, Chief City Planner Sanjay Ratna Kumar, Latur Municipal Corporation officials and corporators were present during the tour.
