Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos), Panangad, will host an international symposium on ‘Seaweeds: Value Chains, Climate Solutions, and Blue Economy Pathways’ from March 5 to 7.

It will be held at the main auditorium on the campus. The event will bring together leading scientists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and industry pioneers to examine how seaweeds are reshaping food systems, climate mitigation strategies, sustainable aquaculture, and coastal livelihoods, according to a release.

Minister of State for Fisheries George Kurian will inaugurate the programme. Minister for Fisheries Saji Cherian will inaugurate the expo held as part of the event.

The symposium is structured around thematic sessions covering algal biodiversity and ecology; genomics and selective breeding; climate change, restoration and conservation; seaweeds as functional foods and nutraceuticals; sustainable cultivation and integrated aquaculture systems; industrial applications and value chain development; and circular economy models, it said.
