APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Insurance Company Ltd. for implementing the ‘Suraksha’ group personal accident insurance scheme for students in affiliated colleges during the academic year 2026-27.

Under the Suraksha Scheme, each student will be provided accident insurance coverage of up to ₹12 lakh. In the event of the accidental death of either parent of a student, the nominee will receive a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh. The scheme also provides ₹1 lakh towards treatment following an accident and in cases of permanent disability suffered by the student or parent due to an accident. Medical expenses incurred for up to 30 days after hospitalisation are also covered under the policy.

In addition to the insurance coverage provided by the insurance company, KTU will continue to extend financial assistance for the treatment of various illnesses. A financial assistance of ₹5 lakh will also be provided to the nominee in the event of the death of a student due to illness.
