The Krishna University will host the All India Inter-University Netball (Women) tournament for the present academic year from February 14 to 18, 2026, at Maris Stella College (Autonomous) in Vijayawada, said Vice-Chancellor Ramji Koona on Sunday (January 25).

Addressing the media in Vijayawada, Mr. Ramji Koona said that the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, has entrusted Krishna University with the responsibility of organising the national-level tournament. He said preparations are in full swing to ensure the smooth conduct of the event in strict compliance with AIU norms and anti-doping guidelines.

The Vice-Chancellor said the tournament is expected to witness participation from universities across the country, with entries already received from several institutions. Around 1,000 players and 160 team officials are expected to take part in the championship, which will be conducted on a knockout-cum-league basis.

Mr. Ramji Koona said that six netball courts—four for matches and two for practice—are being prepared as per the norms of the Netball Federation of India. Reception centres will be set up at Vijayawada railway station and at the venue to facilitate the arrival of teams. Arrangements for accommodation, food, and transport are also being made for players and officials.

University’s Vice-Chairman M.V. Basaveswara Rao said that the university has a strong track record of organising inter-university and national-level sports events and expressed confidence in delivering a successful tournament.

Maris Stella College principal Sr. Innyasamma Gade said the college authorities were upgrading sports infrastructure to provide standard and safe playing conditions for the participants and promised all logistical support for the conduct of the tournament.

The last date for entry was January 25, while the fixtures will be drawn on January 28. Shields, mementoes and merit certificates will be awarded to teams securing the first three positions.
