The rescued students were identified as Ganesh Nayak and Santosh Kumar, both 23 years old and final-year B.Tech students from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched the rescue operation after receiving a distress call around noon and brought the duo to safety.

Mallalli falls, located in Somwarpet taluk, is witnessing a heavy flow following heavy rainfall in the area. With the southwest monsoon intensifying, the Kodagu district administration has been urging tourists and the public to stay away from waterfalls, rivers and other vulnerable locations.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to cause damage in parts of Somwarpet taluk. The retaining wall of a house belonging to Leela collapsed on Monday due to the incessant rainfall. No casualties were reported.
