Ticket number TH 577825 has won the 2025 Thiruvonam bumper lottery in Kerala which carries a first prize of ₹25 crore. The prize went to the ticket sold by lottery agent P. Thankarajan (agent no. T-2356).
The Thiruvonam Bumper saw record sales this year. The Kerala State Lotteries department had printed 75 lakh tickets, of which all tickets except one, which was defective, were sold, Lotteries director Mithun Premraj said. The ticket was priced ₹500.
The second prize carried ₹1 crore each for 20 winners (₹20 crore in total).
Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal inaugurated the draw held at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday (October 4, 2025). Trial runs were held before the actual draw. The major chunk of the revenue from Kerala lottery goes into the prizes for the winners and the commission for the agents. More than 2 lakh people are dependent on the Kerala lottery for their livelihood, Mr. Balagopal said.
Once the winner comes forward and the formalities are completed, the Lotteries department will transfer the prize money into the winner’s bank account after deducting the agent’s commission and tax. The winner/winners would have to remit surcharge and cess on the winnings. Since many lottery winners are unaware of the taxation rules and investment opportunities, the State Lotteries Department had organised a workshop for prize winners in 2023.
The draw was originally scheduled for September 27, but was postponed on account of the heavy rain in the State and the Goods and Services Tax reforms which upped the tax on lottery tickets from 28% to 40%.
Pooja Bumper Lottery launched
On Saturday, Mr. Balagopal also launched the Pooja Bumper Lottery which carries ₹ 12 crore as the first prize. Priced at ₹300, the draw will be held on November 22.
Antony Raju, MLA, and senior officials of the Lotteries department, including director Mithun Premraj were among those present.
