SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has warned that if the United Democratic Front (UDF) is voted to power in Kerala, then the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) “will rule, leading to anarchy and more communal riots like Marad.”

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in the wake of the exit poll results, Mr. Natesan cautioned that coalition partners would be “forced to yield to IUML’s dominance.” He alleged that Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan is being backed by the IUML as the chief ministerial candidate “since he acts as the party’s spokesperson.” That, he added, emboldens Mr. Satheesan to speak against the SNDP Yogam and its general secretary. “The Congress parliamentary party should decide its Chief Minister candidate. The writing is clear when the IUML passes a premature comment on the matter,” he said.
