A 39-year-old woman was hacked to death by her husband in Punalur, Kollam, Kerala, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Shalini, a private school teacher and resident of Valacode.

She was attacked by her husband, Isaac, 42, around 6 a.m. After the assault, the accused confessed in a Facebook Live video before later surrendering before the police.

Her body was shifted to Punalur Taluk Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The police said marital disputes and suspicion prompted the attack.

In the two-and-a-half-minute Facebook Live, Isaac admitted to killing Shalini, alleging that she had relationships unknown to him. He also accused her of neglecting their children and forcing him to leave the house he had built.

Sources said the couple had been living separately due to family disputes.

After streaming the video, Isaac fled the scene. He later surrendered at the police station around 9 a.m. Police have registered a case of murder, and further investigation is underway.
