Several LDF ministers, who are contesting in the upcoming April 9 Assembly polls in Kerala, on Saturday (March 21, 2026) declared assets of close to ₹2 crore each in their nomination papers.

Ministers K.N. Balagopal, V. Sivankutty, R. Bindu and Roshy Augustine declared assets, both movable and immovable, of over ₹1.94 crore, ₹2.29 crore, ₹2.14 crore and ₹1.84 crore, respectively.

The spouses of Mr. Sivankutty and Mr. Augustine have assets worth over ₹2 crore, according to their respective affidavits.

In the case of PWD Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas, he has assets worth ₹40 lakh, while his wife Veena T — the daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan — has assets of close to ₹2 crore.

Mr. Riyas, according to his affidavit, was also involved in 12 criminal cases related to various protests and six of them have been closed with payment of fines, while the remaining are pending.

There were no criminal cases against Ms. Bindu, Mr. Balagopal and Mr. Augustine, according to their respective affidavits.

However, Mr. Sivankutty is facing seven criminal cases of which one is related to the 2015 ruckus in the State Assembly, his affidavit stated.
