Kerala local body polls: more than 2,200 applications for inclusion of names filed on Day 1 of voters’ list revision

More than 2,200 applications for enrolment in the electoral rolls were filed on Monday (September 29, 2025) after the State Election Commission kicked off a revision of the rolls ahead of the 2025 local body polls.

Up to 4 p.m., 2,285 applications were filed for inclusion of names in the list and 83 applications, for making corrections, the Commission said. As many as 266 applications were filed for transposition (shifting of voters from one ward to another) and 69, for effecting deletions.

The final rolls published on September 2 was published as the draft for the latest revision which began on Monday (September 29). This list has 2,83,12,458 voters in all, including 1,49,59,235 women, 1,33,52,947 men and 276 transgender voters.

The draft can be accessed on the Commission’s website sec.kerala.gov.in, local bodies and village and taluk offices. New names can be added to the list till October 14. Those who have turned 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2025, are eligible to enrol their names. The final list will be published on October 25.
