The Revised Budget presented by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan in the Assembly backtracks from the welfare policies followed by the previous Left Democratic Front government, Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Binoy Viswam has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Viswam said an attempt was made to create the impression that the State was in a debt trap with this intention.

The hints in the Budget about changes proposed to be made to the State Planning Board made it clear that planning that was the foundation of the Nehruvian economic trajectory would be abandoned, Mr. Viswam said.
