Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar challenges Congress to prove ‘undisclosed assets’ allegations in court

Kerala’s State BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has challenged the Congress to take its allegations about his “so-called undisclosed assets” to the court of law to prove these.

Addressing mediapersons in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday (March 24, 2026), Mr. Chandrasekhar said the Congress had raised the same allegations in 2024 when he was fighting the Lok Sabha elections from Kerala.

“If they were so sure of the allegations, they had two years to drag me to court, but they did nothing. This is a set pattern followed by the Congress in all States, for whenever they know that the elections may not be in their favour, they unleash a new narrative to confuse and distract people. The allegations about a CPI(M)-BJP ‘deal’ and the furore over my assets are all part of this strategy. But the public is beginning to see through them,” Mr. Chandrasekhar said.

He added that the Congress was raising these allegations “because they have nothing meaningful to say” about the development agenda that the BJP has set forth in this elections.

He clarified that his house in Bengaluru was owned by a partnership firm, in which he is a partner. This detail has been disclosed before the Election Commission, he said.

Rejects charges of poll ‘deals’

Mr. Chandrasekhar also sought to dismiss the allegations about electoral “deals” in many constituencies, saying the charges were “meaningless because the CPI(M) and the Congress have always joined hands to spoil the chances of the BJP in Kerala.”

He said the CPI(M) and the Congress were fighting the elections on the same side. “The CPI(M) is in partnership with the Congress in all other States except Kerala, not to forget that the 10 years of UPA rule, from 2004-2014, happened because of the CPI(M)’s support to the Congress,” he said. “The people clearly know who is whose A team or B team,” he added.

Mr. Chandrasekhar asked both the Congress and the CPI(M) to “stop raising wild allegations and to fight the elections on the basis of real issues.”
