In a breakthrough that finally cracks the long-standing dominance of the traditional coalitions in Kollam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a historic victory in Chathannur, a consistent Left bastion.

BJP candidate B.B. Gopakumar emerged victorious securing a hard-fought win that marks the party’s first-ever legislative entry from the district. This victory is not merely a local win but a significant milestone in the BJP’s long-term strategy to expand its footprint beyond its traditional pockets in Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod.
