About 18.2 lakh people cast their votes in the Assembly election in Palakkad district on Thursday. Registering a record voter turnout in the district’s recent history, 80.56% of the 22.68 lakh voters reached the polling booths to elect their candidates to the State Assembly.
Polling started briskly at 7 a.m. at 2,531 polling stations across 12 constituencies in the district: Thrithala, Pattambi, Ottappalam, Shoranur, Kongad, Mannarkkad, Malampuzha, Palakkad, Chittur, Alathur, Tharoor, and Nemmara.
