Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas has made a Facebook post suggesting that the soul of her husband and former legislator, the late P. T. Thomas, who was instrumental in reporting the alleged abduction and rape of the actor to the police in 2017, would never be satisfied with the verdict in the case pronounced by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court here on Monday (December 8, 2025).

Kerala actor rape case verdict LIVE:

She recollected how her husband had rushed out of their house on hearing about the trauma faced by the woman on the streets. He testified before the court, breaking pre-determined scripts, and sat on a day-night hunger strike before the Gandhi statue in pursuit of justice for her.

“Will PT’s soul be satisfied with this verdict? Never. The concerns shared by the survivor many times during the course of the trial have proved to be correct. With her, unconditionally,” the post read.

When contacted, Ms. Thomas declined to make any further comment, stating that she would rather wait for the detailed verdict. However, earlier in the day, while talking to media persons before the verdict was pronounced, she expressed only a 50–50 chance that justice would be served and that no prominent personalities involved in the case would be spared. She said she had spoken with the survivor, who sounded tense about the verdict. Ms. Thomas called for protection for the survivor in the event that any prominent accused go scot-free following the verdict.

Ms. Thomas said that her husband had faced pressure from various corners against testifying in the case. He reacted as though his own daughter had been attacked on the night of the incident in February 2017. “He kept motivating the survivor and urged her to be bold and not to back out, but to remain steadfast in the fight to expose the truth. Many people asked PT not to give his statement, which he did over three days. Maybe they were concerned that PT would be endangered or find himself in a controversy. However, PT was determined and told them that he would say what he knew — nothing more, nothing less,” she said.

She also recollected how the tyres of a vehicle used by her husband were found tampered with. “There was no way it could have happened accidentally since the vehicle had just been serviced. The automobile company authorities met us and explained how a vehicle goes through various layers of checking before being released after service. Though many people at that time portrayed it as an attempt to endanger PT in connection with the case, I don’t want to say so without concrete evidence suggesting that,” she said.
