Karnataka: Man injured in assault dies in Shivamogga hospital

A man who suffered serious injuries in an alleged assault reported on October 2, died in a private hospital in Shivamogga on Sunday.

Amzad, 34, was allegedly assaulted by a group of people at RML Nagar in the city on Thursday. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment. However, he did not respond to treatment according to doctors.

The Doddapete police registered a case and arrested five people for the alleged assault. According to the police, the main accused was an 18-year-old, who was reportedly involved in a criminal activity three months ago as a juvenile.

Amzad, a resident of Shivamogga, was a businessman, police said. “Amzad also has a history of involving in criminal activities. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused assaulted him following a heated argument over a financial transaction. We are currently investigating the matter,” said Shivamogga Superintendent of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar.

All the arrested have been remanded to judicial custody.
