The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday cleared the proposal to set up three units to process construction debris in the Greater Bengaluru Authority area.

The project to process construction waste would come up under the PPP model, in three packages with the estimated cost of ₹1,714.83 crore. The authority has estimated the generation of 2,250 tonnes of C&D waste per day. The authority will fix the tipping fee that waste generators have to pay to the company for collection and transportation.

Besides that, the Cabinet gave administrative approval for ₹38.33 crore for the operation and maintenance of the water purifying unit with the capacity to handle 550 MLD of the Cauvery Water Supply Project phase-4, stage 2, for five years. Similarly, the Cabinet cleared the pump replacement at the cost of ₹49.30 crore in the Cauvery Water Supply project phase -1 and 2.

The Cabinet is said to have given administrative approval for many projects concerning the North Karnataka.

Irrigation projects

The proposals cleared by the Cabinet include the revised estimate of ₹1,503 crore for the Karur Lift Irrigation project in Badami and Bilgi taluks of Bagalkot district.

Among others, it also gave administrative approval for ₹990 crore for providing water from Narayanapura Right Bank canal to Pamana Kallur and other areas of Maski taluk in Raichur district. Another project with an estimated cost of ₹272 crore to fill up 19 tanks of Yalaburga and Kukanur taluks by lifting water from Krishna River.

Elevated corridor

The Cabinet gave administrative approval to the Public Works Department to take up the construction of an elevated corridor/grade separator connecting the National Highway – 48 to Dharmaveera Sambhaji Circle via Ashoka Circle, Sangolli Rayanna Circle, and Rani Chennamma Circle, at a cost of ₹275.53 crore. The 2.03-km-long elevated road is expected to ease traffic in the heart of the city.

The Water Resources Department had proposed to take up the work to provide Krishna River water for parts of Raibag and Chikkodi taluks of Belagavi districts at a cost of ₹210 crore. The department has proposed to supply water from the river to the Raj Hira Left Distributary Canal (RHLD) and the Raibag distributary canal. The Cabinet has given its consent.

Further, the Cabinet approved the Sri Karisiddeshwara Lift Irrigation project proposed to lift Krishna River water from Raibag taluk and supply to the Chikkodi branch canal.

Nod for Bill

The Cabinet, reportedly, approved the Karnataka District Judicial Reforms Bill, 2025. The proposed Bill intends to allow the use of artificial intelligence to streamline the justice delivery system in the district judiciary.

The Law Department has proposed the law to enhance speed, accuracy and transparency in the judicial process. The law encourages use of AI in case filing and registration, case management, legal research assistance and document processing.

Deferred

The State Cabinet failed to arrive at a consensus on implementing internal reservation among the Scheduled Castes in the promotion of civil servants and deferred the issue.

The issue was listed in the agenda of the meeting, but a couple of ministers, reportedly, raised objections and sought clarifications. Finally, the Cabinet decided to take up the issue later.

The Cabinet also considered a proposal to shift the Government Flying Training School at Jakkur in Bengaluru to Mysuru. However, it did not arrive at a decision.
