Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced several projects for Mysuru while presenting the State Budget 2026–27 on Friday (March 6, 2026), covering healthcare, industry, tourism, infrastructure and social welfare initiatives in the region.

Among the key announcements is the expansion of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Mysuru from the existing 400-bed facility to a 600-bed hospital at a cost of ₹180 crore.

In a push to promote industrial growth, the government has proposed setting up an aerospace park near the Mysuru airport through the KIADB. The project is aimed at attracting investment and promoting the growth of aerospace industries in the region.

The budget also announced the establishment of a Schneider Electric Youth Impact Centre in Mysuru at a cost of ₹16 crore. A similar centre will come up in Kalaburagi. The facility is expected to train and provide employment opportunities to about 2,000 students every year.

To encourage cycling, a modern cycling velodrome will be developed at Dattagalli in Mysuru. As part of efforts to improve tourism infrastructure, the Mysuru Zoo has been identified, along with the Bannerghatta Biological Park, for the development of a nature interpretation centre under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to enhance visitor experience and attract more tourists.

The government has also granted revised administrative approval for the ₹500-crore film city project at Himmavu near Mysuru, which had been announced in an earlier budget. The project will include facilities such as a theme park, star hotels and restaurants, and the appointment of a transaction adviser has also been announced.

Mysuru is among the cities selected for the implementation of e-courts on a pilot basis at a cost of ₹10 crore. The budget has also allocated ₹10 crore to the Karnataka Exhibition Authority for completing the remaining infrastructure works at the exhibition grounds here.

Among welfare initiatives announced for Mysuru are modern laundries equipped with washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment to be set up in Mysuru and Bengaluru for members of the Madivala community at a unit cost of ₹75 lakh. The government has also announced post-matric hostels with a capacity of 150 students for the benefit of backward class students and working women’s hostels for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Mysuru and other cities.

In the livestock sector, Mr Siddaramaiah has announced the establishment of a Boer goat breeding centre in Mysuru to improve local goat breeds. The government has also proposed comprehensive development of the Bandur sheep breeding centre at Kamplapura in Periyapatna taluk.

In a move to monetise the assets of the Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation, the government has announced the construction of commercial complexes at Bamboo Bazaar in Mysuru during the current financial year.

The budget also proposes the development of Lingambudi Park near Srirampura in Mysuru to attract more tourists and nature lovers, though detailed plans for the project are yet to be announced.
