Contending that the confusions surrounding the ongoing Social and Educational Survey were only compounding with each passing day, BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra suspected that the “haste” displayed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to conduct the survey could be linked to the much talked about “November revolution” in the State.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Sunday, Mr. Vijayendra said that the decision to conduct the survey appears to have been taken in a tearing hurry without any preparation.
“What I don’t understand is the reason for the haste being shown by the State government and the Chief Minister. Is the discussion on an October or November revolution in Congress circles connected to the survey?”, the BJP leader wondered.
The BJP, too, is in favour of ensuring social justice to all, Mr. Vijayendra said, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “historic announcement” on conducting a nation-wide caste census, an exercise that had not been conducted since the country’s independence.
When a country-wide census has been announced, there was no need for such a survey in Karnataka, he opined.
During a show of strength in Mysuru recently, Mr. Siddaramaiah dominated the proceedings, overshadowing both All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
While senior Ministers of the Congress government in the State keep talking about “November revolution”, AICC leader K.C. Venugopal, who tried to silence them, did not rule out any change of leadership in the State.
Sweeping changes
Mr. Vijayendra claimed that there will be sweeping changes in Karnataka in November this year, post the Assembly elections in Bihar.
Moreover, he criticised the State Government for its failure to attend to the problems faced by the flood-hit people of Kalyana Karnataka. The people of the State are cursing the Congress government, Mr. Vijayendra said, while predicting serious “ups and downs” following the elections in Bihar.
