To facilitate faster movement of goods and heavy vehicles in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare plans for ring roads around major district headquarters. A study has to be taken up on connecting these roads to national highways.

The instructions were issued during a review meeting on the Roads and Buildings department in Hyderabad on Wednesday (March 11, 2026), where road network across the State and in the city, purchase of electric vehicles for official works, land allotment for a bus terminal near proposed high-speed rail corridor and construction of teaching and major hospitals were discussed.

Besides development of plans for roads across the State in tune with the Road Sector Policy-2047, the Chief Minister said focus should be on developing connecting roads to make the city free of traffic issues.

CM’s instructions to officials

-> Prepare plans for ring roads around major district headquarters

-> Conduct study on connecting ring roads to national highways

-> Study development of a greenfield road to reach Nagarjuna Sagar from Hyderabad-Vijayawada Expressway

-> Complete construction of sanctioned ROBs and RUBs

-> Prepare proposals for new ROBs and RUBs on need basis

-> Purchase and hire only electronic vehicles for official purposes

-> Prepare plans for allotment of land for the construction of a modern bus terminal near proposed high-speed rail corridor

Radial roads from the district headquarters, connecting them to the proposed ring road too, were discussed. The officials were also asked to take up a study on development of a greenfield road to reach Nagarjuna Sagar from Hyderabad-Vijayawada Expressway.

The State government continued to give priority to electric vehicles as  he Chief Minister asked officials to purchase only EVs for official purposes. It was announced earlier that 2500 Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses in Hyderabad would be moved to districts by December. They would be replaced with EV buses.

The Chief Minister on Wednesday also said land will be allotted for a modern bus terminal near the proposed high-speed rail corridor in Shamshabad. Instructions were issued to prepare plans in this regard.
