Actors of Rangayana, Shivamogga will perform Nammalagobba Gandhi, a Kannada play, in Belagavi on January 21, at the Kannada Bhavan at 6.30 p.m. Entry is free.

Chidambar Rao Jambe has directed the play written by Dadasaheb S Chougale. Omkar Meghalakapur is the associate director. Raghav Kammar has provided the music.

The play is an attempt at recreating pre-independence history. It imagines a village planning to welcome Mahatma Gandhi for an anti-British protest. However, the rulers have some supporters in the village, like the Shanubhog, the head of the village. It also brings out various social issues.

Karnataka’s PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi and KLE Society Chairperson Prabhakar Kore are among those expected to watch the show.
