Kalaburagi Airport is set to resume regular flight operations from Wednesday with regional carrier Star Air scheduled to operate daily services connecting Kalaburagi and Bengaluru, according to Airport Director Kishore Killampalli.

Announcing the resumption during a press conference on Monday, Mr. Killampalli said that the airport is fully prepared for commercial operations following the recent infrastructure upgrades and regulatory clearances.

The daily service will operate on the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi-Bengaluru route.

The flight will leave Bengaluru at 6.30 a.m. and arrive in Kalaburagi at 7.40 a.m.

The return service will leave Kalaburagi at 8.10 a.m. and reach Bengaluru at 9.20 a.m. This will ensure morning connectivity for passengers travelling in both directions.

Star Air will deploy its Embraer E175 aircraft for the route offering a 76-seat configuration designed for regional connectivity.

Mr. Killampalli noted that a team of experts from the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation conducted a detailed inspection and safety audit of the airport 15 days ago and cleared the facility for safe landing operations.

“As of now, only one airline is operating from Kalaburagi Airport. We are in the process of approaching more airlines to introduce additional routes from here,” Mr. Killampalli said.

Kalaburagi Airport is expected to restore scheduled connectivity and strengthen air access between the Kalyana Karnataka region and Bengaluru, he added.
