Students, teachers and staff of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research Deemed-to-be-University’s (KAHER) Kannada Balaga celebrated the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava in Belagavi on Saturday.

N.S. Mahantashetti, officiating Vice-Chancellor of KAHER and former honorary president of the Kannada Balaga, was the chief guest. She appreciated the continuous efforts of the Kannada Balaga to create awareness about Kannada among today’s young generation and advised it to continue to lead it even more successfully. Ms. Mahantashetti was felicitated for leading Kannada Balaga for more than a decade.

V.M. Pattanshetti, registrar of the KLE University, spoke about the greatness of Kannada’s linguistic heritage. He said that everyone should join hands with the Kannada Balaga and continue to contribute to the development. V.D. Patil, director of KLE New Hospital and Projects, spoke and expressed his appreciation for the many programs undertaken by the Kannada Balaga.

Students created a tableau with the slogan “Cancer or Life: May Your Choice Be Right”, depicting the effects of cancer on the human body. This tableau was taken around the city in the Rajyotsava procession and created awareness on health problems caused by cancer and its prevention.

The students of Kannada Balaga presented a dance performance depicting Karnataka culture at the function and at various places in the city. The teachers and students of KLE School of Music presented Kannada songs.

Rajesh S. Powar, principal JNMC and honorary president of Kannada Balaga presided over. Avinash Kavi, chairman, Kannada Balaga welcomed the gathering and gave introductory remarks on the glory of Kannada-Kannadiga-Karnataka, said a release.
