Renowned poet K.V. Ramakrishnan has been selected for the Asan Memorial Poetry Award 2025, instituted by Chennai’s Asan Memorial Association and bestowed annually for outstanding contributions to Malayalam poetry.

Ramakrishnan’s selection came from a shortlist curated from nominations submitted by poetry enthusiasts and literary admirers. A jury comprising writers Thomas Mathew, P.V. Krishnan Nair, and K.S. Ravikumar unanimously chose him for the award. The jury praised his ability to harmoniously fuse the richness of tradition with a modern poetic consciousness, marking his work as both rooted and refreshingly innovative.

The award carries a cash prize of fifty thousand rupees, a citation, and a specially designed sculpture by the acclaimed artist Achuthan Kudallur. The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place in Chennai in February 2026.
