Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the Koppal District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mahantesh S. Daragad has urged the public to make full use of the National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on December 13 across all courts in Koppal district.

Addressing a press conference at the DLSA office on Tuesday, he said the Lok Adalat offered a valuable opportunity for litigants to resolve their disputes speedily through mutual settlement.

“Cases settled through compromise become final with the consent of both parties, and the entire court fee paid will be refunded,” he said.

He explained that a wide range of cases were eligible for settlement at the Lok Adalat, including civil suits, land acquisition matters, bank recovery cases, cheque bounce cases, motor accident compensation claims, and matrimonial disputes. Several criminal compoundable cases could also be disposed of through compromise, he added.

Stating that the district currently had more than 32,000 pending cases, he noted that over 6,000 cases were settled in the previous National Lok Adalat. “This time we have set a target of resolving 7,000 cases through mutual settlement, and we seek the cooperation of judges, lawyers and litigants,” he said.

Mr. Daragad also urged the media to create greater awareness among the public about the benefits of participating in the Lok Adalat.
