Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Monday asked party leaders to strongly counter what he described as false propaganda unleashed by the YSR Congress Party on the Tirupati laddu adulteration issue.

He said the JSP could not afford to remain silent while the YSRCP claimed it had done nothing wrong despite the exposure by the Special Investigation Team. The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that ghee adulteration could not have taken place without the knowledge and involvement of YSRCP leaders and certain officials in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, and said this should be established with evidence.

Addressing a party meeting near Mangalagiri, Mr. Kalyan cautioned JSP leaders against falling into the YSRCP’s trap, but said this did not mean maintaining silence when motives were being attributed to statements made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He said the YSRCP should not be allowed to have its way as it was attempting to corner the government by resorting to various tactics. While the government would take action in accordance with the law, JSP leaders should also play their role in exposing the serious offences allegedly committed by YSRCP leaders and their associates, he added.
