Mahila Congress State president Jebi Mather, MP, has come out openly in support of United Democratic Front (UDF) convener Adoor Prakash’s public outburst over being “kept in the dark about important government decisions.”

Talking to the media in Kochi on Friday (October 2, 2026), Ms. Mather said that Mr. Prakash is a very senior leader who has every right to express his views about having to learn of such matters through the media. What he said cannot be dismissed lightly, she said.

On Thursday (October 1, 2026), Mr. Prakash said that Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, in his capacity as the UDF chairperson, had not taken the initiative to convene a meeting of the UDF. He further said that, as the UDF convener, he had come to know of several decisions taken by Mr. Satheesan’s government “through the media.”

Ms. Mather said that she had been consistently demanding the convening of a meeting of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) executive committee since July. “I have conveyed this demand to the KPCC president personally, over the phone, through email, and in writing. This is a demand I have been raising for the past three months as a disciplined party worker who believes in inner-party democracy,” she said.

Ms. Mather said that, as a disciplined party worker, she has always raised matters concerning the party through its internal forums. “We remain firm in our demand for convening the KPCC executive committee meeting,” she said.
