‘Jana Nayagan’ film leak case: Mastermind among two more held

The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing, on June 10, 2026 (Wednesday) has picked up the mastermind and another accused in connection with the leak, online dissemination and circulation of the unreleased film Jana Nayagan, starring actor and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

Earlier on April 11, 2026, a case was registered based on a complaint received from the representatives of the production house regarding the unauthorised access, copying, transmission and circulation of confidential footage of the movie, resulting in substantial financial and commercial loss to the producers.

As part of the continuing investigation, the Cyber Crime Wing carried out extensive technical analysis, digital forensic examination and intelligence-based enquiries. Based on the evidence collected, a total of 17 accused persons had already been arrested at various stages of investigation.

Subsequently, on June 10, under the guidance of M. Meenakshi, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime Wing Headquarters, the investigation culminated in securing the mastermind and another accused behind the illegal dissemination of the movie to the public. The mastermind had been absconding for a considerable period and was actively evading law enforcement agencies, police said. With this, the number of people arrested in this case has increased to 19.
