Union Jal Shakti Secretary V.L. Kantha Rao on Wednesday stressed the need for maintaining both quality and speed in executing works at the Polavaram irrigation project.

During his visit, Mr. Kantha Rao reviewed the ongoing works along with project officials and representatives of the executing agencies. He held a detailed meeting with the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA), State Water Resources Department, and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL).

He noted that the project was progressing as per schedule, but cautioned that even minor delays could impact completion targets.

Referring to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s goal to complete the project by June 2027, he sought clarity on the action plan and urged officials to set daily targets.

Mr. Kantha Rao assured full Central support, including timely design approvals, and said coordination would improve after shifting the PPA office to Rajamahendravaram. He also inspected key structures and reviewed rehabilitation, land acquisition, and hydroelectric project progress.
