In a rare display of collective hospitality, around 800 households in the Bengalam and Kakkat areas of Madikai panchayats in Kasaragod will prepare ‘idlis’ on Friday morning as part of the breakfast arrangements for the for contestants and guests attending the State ITI Arts Festival being held at Bangalam.

The initiative is part of a community-driven effort to host students and accompanying teams who have arrived from across the State for the arts festival. Idlis prepared in individual homes will be collected and taken to the festival kitchen, with around 3,000 Idlis expected to be served for Friday breakfast.

The festival, which features ITI students from different parts of the State competing in various cultural events, will conclude on Friday evening.

The unusual model of 800 households preparing idlis on a single day for festival guests has already drawn attention as a striking example of community participation.
