Communist Party of India (CPI) State unit secretary Binoy Viswam has asked whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is above God.
At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Viswam alleged that this claim was made in BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai’s book Sabarimala Samaravum Suvarna Avasara Vidhiyum. The Left Democratic Front’s position was that whoever plundered temple wealth, it was wrong and they could not be forgiven, he said.
Mr. Viswam said it was said that the chief priest of the Sabarimala temple decided matters there. Mr. Sreedharan Pillai now claimed that when he was BJP State unit president, he advised the Sabarimala chief priest to close the shrine during the row over women’s entry in 2018. “Is the BJP above the Tantri? Is the BJP bigger than God?”
He further alleged that the politics of the chief priest who considered a political leader larger than God was clear.
