Interarch Building Solutions to invest ₹300 crore for heavy steel plant expansion in Nellore

Noida-based Interarch Building Solutions Limited is going to invest ₹300 crore in a phased manner over the next couple of years to expand its manufacturing facilities in Athivaram Industrial Park at Ojili mandal in SPSR Nellore district, said the company’s managing director Arvind Nanda. He inaugurated a new heavy structural steel manufacturing facility with an initial manufacturing capacity of 25,000 metric tonne (MT) per annum in 20 acre-land at the Industrial Park on Thursday.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said, “We will be investing around ₹220 crore in this facility to double its capacity to 50,000 MT per annum over the next two-and-a-half years. We recently signed a joint venture with a Canadian company to manufacture high-quality products for export. For that, we are investing ₹80 crore to expand our capabilities in designing and manufacturing complex steel structures.”

“Andhra Pradesh is an excellent market and the government is also supportive. We have hundreds of customers, as the State is growing rapidly in terms of data centres and capital infrastructure. The facility was developed to address the increasing requirement for heavy and high-performance structural steel in projects where scale, precision and engineering complexity are critical,” Mr. Nanda said. 

When asked about the employment opportunities, he said, “Currently, 450 persons are working in the existing 10-acre pre-engineered steel building (PEB) facility at Athivaram. After the completion of three phases of the new facility, it will be able to employ 1,000 people overall. Currently, locals are not hired because the work requires specialised training. We are planning to undertake skill development initiatives under CSR to provide employment to the local youth.”

The new plant is equipped with specialised equipment sourced from leading technology providers in Europe, enabling high-precision fabrication and the manufacturing of complex heavy structural members. It also provides a strategic manufacturing base for servicing customers across south and west India. Its proximity to industrial clusters, ports, and major transportation networks is expected to support efficient movement of materials and finished structures to project locations.
