Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday (October 18) claimed that the fourth phase development of Infopark was expected to generate around 50,000 jobs and attract direct investment to the tune of ₹3,000 crore.

In a Facebook post, he said 33.5 acres of the Traco Cable company’s land at Irumpanam in Ernakulam would be handed over to Infopark at a cost of ₹200 crore as part of the fourth phase development.

He said the fourth phase had been envisaged as a mixed township model, which would include state-of-the-art IT complexes, world-class infrastructure, and commercial buildings. It will help in further strengthening Kochi’s position as the industrial capital of Kerala, he said.

Mr. Vijayan said the proposed site close to the existing Infopark campus would have access to the Kakkanad Water Metro, Kochi metro, and Seaport-Airport Road. He added that the fourth phase was expected to add 50 lakh sq.ft of new IT space. The government’s aim is to make Kochi the hub of artificial intelligence, global capability centres, and next-generation IT campuses.
