India and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and next-generation telecommunications, with a focus on secure and future-ready digital infrastructure.

On the sidelines of the AI Summit in New Delhi, Union Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar held a bilateral meeting at Dak Bhawan with UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayan.

The discussions were held under the framework of the India–UK 2030 Roadmap and the UK–India Technology Security Initiative, according to a press release here from the office of Mr. Chandra Sekhar.

Both sides reviewed progress under the Department of Telecommunications–DCMS Memorandum of Understanding and welcomed the operationalisation of the India–UK Connectivity and Innovation Centre, endorsed during India Mobile Congress 2025.

Dr. Sekhar emphasised that AI would play a central role in the evolution of telecom networks, including AI-native systems, Open RAN and 6G technologies. The meeting explored cooperation in autonomous network management, AI-driven cybersecurity, spectrum innovation and non-terrestrial networks, along with joint research and coordinated engagement in global standard-setting bodies such as the ITU and 3GPP.

India also highlighted its National Quantum Mission, rapid 5G rollout, rural connectivity expansion and digital public infrastructure initiatives. Both countries exchanged best practices on preventing telecom fraud using AI-based tools.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to strengthen structured institutional collaboration in emerging technologies.
