D.K. Shivakumar convenes meeting of Karnataka MPs in Delhi to press State’s pending demands

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has convened a meeting of all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Karnataka in New Delhi on Monday (July 26, 2026) to discuss the State’s pending proposals before the Centre and seek bipartisan support for securing Central assistance during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

The meeting will be held at 6.30 p.m. at Karnataka Bhavan, with all MPs from the State having been invited. Around seven or eight State Ministers are also expected to attend.

Speaking to presspersons in Bengaluru on Sunday (July 26, 2026) ahead of his visit to New Delhi, Mr. Shivakumar said the meeting would focus on issues concerning Karnataka’s development and the need for MPs to collectively pursue them in Parliament.

“We want to present various issues connected to the State, and I hope all of them will work in the interest of Karnataka,” he said.

The Chief Minister said Karnataka was passing through a difficult period owing to the drought situation and expressed hope that the Centre would extend the required assistance.

“We are going through difficult times because of the drought situation. We hope the Central government will help us at this point,” he said, adding that he would brief the State’s MPs on the issues to be taken up with the Union Government.

Cabinet expansion talks

Mr. Shivakumar will travel to New Delhi on Monday afternoon (July 27, 2026) along with former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president B.K. Hariprasad.

The Congress leaders are also expected to hold another round of discussions with the party high command on the proposed expansion of the State Cabinet and the finalisation of the list of prospective Ministers.
